Student Support Services Teacher

Students identified as not meeting educational outcomes are provided additional supports through our Student Support Services Teacher. Our SSST works with classroom teachers and our school team to develop programs and instructional practices to help students succeed to expected levels. The SSST also works either with individuals or small groups in pull-out situations, or works with the students and teacher in the regular classroom settings.

LLI

The Leveled Literacy Intervention System is a small group supplementary intervention system designed for children who may find reading and writing difficult in French or in English. LLI is designed to bring children quickly up to grade level competency. The program is offered during regular class time but there is an at-home requirement for the program as well.

Holy Trinity Elementary Bands

Students in grade 6, 7, and 8 are encouraged to join the Holy Trinity Elementary Band Program. In band students learn to read and play music on a wind band instrument: brass, woodwinds, and percussion. Guidelines are being carefully followed, and safety procedures have been put into place to ensure students can learn music in a safe, positive atmosphere.

Band students will engage in a mix of small-group in-school rehearsal, and at-home playing. They will also have opportunities to try their hand at composition, music appreciation, improvisation, and music theory. Live concerts have been put on hold, but virtual concerts are very likely!
